Brixton Bomber

Brixton has a new Champ in Danny WIlliams who on saturday shut audley Harrisons all talk mouth by becoming the Commonwealth Champ.

Vanquished Audley Harrison has vowed to continue in his quest to become world champion despite Saturday's night's defeat to Danny Williams at the ExCel Arena.

Harrison was sent to the canvas for the first time in his 20-fight career before Williams claimed a split decision win and the Commonwealth title.

The former Olympic champion had pledged to wow the crowds with a stunning display, but there was little evidence of Harrison wanting to get involved in a turgid affair.

Only a 10th-round knockdown seemed to spur the 34-year-old into life, surely knowing he was behind on the scorecards, but despite having Williams in trouble in the 11th he was unable to finish the job.

"It was a tough fight," Harrison said. "I have no excuses but I lost my left hand from the third round.

"I'll go back to the drawing board but I will come back and I will overcome this.

"Danny Williams beat me on the night and he got the result. I didn't box great but it was a split decision.

"It's the first defeat of my career but I will be back - Frank Bruno won the world title at the fourth attempt.

"It was Danny's night but there have been many Audley Harrison nights in the past and there will be more Audley Harrison nights to come."

The 15,000 fans that jeered Harrison at every opportunity will hope he is wrong
